SURGICAL SERVICES
SPAY / NEUTER / SOFT TISSUE / LIMITED ORTHOPEDICS / OPHTHALMIC
We offer a wide variety of soft tissue and some orthopedic surgical services at Derry Animal Hospital.
Dr. Crescenzi has a particular interest in surgery and has nearly a decade of experience in performing operations and procedures on a variety of pets in routine and emergency situations.
Feel free to discuss your questions about specific services we provide and our plan for before, during, and after your pet’s operation. Our comprehensive approach to tailoring the surgical plan to the individual allows us to work towards the best possible outcome with each procedure.
DENTAL SERVICES
CLEANING / POLISHING / EXTRACTIONS / FLUORIDE TREATMENT / MASS REMOVALS
Though most of our pets do not brush and floss regularly, oral and dental health is as important to their bodies as it is to ours.
At Derry Animal Hospital we use a high-grade ultrasonic scaler and a professional polishing unit for giving pets clean and healthy smiles. We also have an electronic high-speed drill for more complicated dental procedures when needed. We use the OraVet and Sanos product lines of sealants and veterinary-grade dental chews to add that finishing touch to our comprehensive dental cleanings.
We are working on situating digital dental radiology in-hospital!
Since animals are heavily sedated or anesthetized for all dental cleanings and procedures, our team takes appropriate precautions to maximize the safety for your pet. They are screened and monitored before, during, and after and pets can typically expect to go home the same day as their dental procedure.
DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
BLOOD PRESSURE / EKG / PULSE OX / ETC
When it comes to providing modern, thorough, evidence-backed care to your pet, the proper tools are critical to get the job done right. We use high-quality, state-of-the-art anesthetic and vital sign monitoring equipment.
We’re able to provide several on-the-spot diagnostic tests in the clinic without having to send pets out and have owners traveling to get answers. This includes blood and urine testing, fluid and cell sample analysis, digital radiology, and more. Having diagnostics available in the clinic allows more comprehensive evaluation and monitoring of your pet’s condition so we can better direct treatment or management of disease.
We refer to regional board-certified specialists for any testing or treatment beyond the means of what we can do here in the hospital or when cases require advanced care more appropriate for the referral setting. We work closely with many boarded specialists to facilitate the best care for our patients both during referral and afterwards for ongoing maintenance of their conditions or needs.
Don’t worry! At Derry Animal Hospital we are dedicated to continuing the tradition of cost-conscious care and look to these additional tools to be able to help us better streamline our treatment plans without racking up unnecessary costs. Ask for details.

DIGITAL RADIOLOGY & ULTRASOUND!
Derry Animal Hospital is excited to provide digital radiology services.
Digital X-ray allows us a cost and time efficient method to get top-quality images to help with evaluating your pet’s internal condition. Radiographs are usually the first line of imaging performed to screen your pet’s body and evaluate the soft tissues and bony structures. X-rays can help us see things like fractures/dislocations, tumors, intestinal blockages, fluid in the lungs/chest or abdomen, pneumonia, heart enlargement, organ enlargement, bladder stones, arthritis, etc.
Our DR50 Radiology machine is a top-of-the-line imaging system with some of the lowest x-ray emissions of commercial veterinary radiology machines available on the market. It boasts high quality images that can be viewed and even shared with owners.
We now offer limited ultrasound services!
Ultrasound is like a real-time camera into the body where we can see the insides of the organs in 2-D cross section. This allows an even more in-depth assessment of individual organs than on X-ray seen in real time. Ultrasound can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions and find things like fluid, tumors, mineralization, shunts, etc. It will be an amazing tool to help round out a complete diagnostic arsenal for the clinic. If there is a need for a more in-depth or advanced ultrasound than what we can perform here, we can refer you to a board-certified specialist for these services.
